Plan a Bike to School Day to encourage active transportation, good health

If you’re looking to get involved in a community event that promotes safety and a healthy habit, consider signing up for the National Bike to School Day on Wednesday, May 7. In Michigan, the event is sponsored by the Michigan Fitness Foundation to make communities more walkable and “bikeable.”

National Bike to School Day is an offshoot of Walk to School Day established in 1997 by the Partnership for a Walkable America. The first-ever National Bike to School Day was celebrated in May 2012 when more than 1,700 schools participated in the event.
