What qualities do you think a state superintendent of education should have?

State Superintendent Mike Flanagan will be retiring July 2015, and you can share your thoughts and recommendations on the qualities a new superintendent should have.

This week, on August 27 from 8 to 9 p.m., #michED chat will be dedicated to providing feedback and direction to the Michigan Department of Education's search for Flanagan's replacement. The #michED community brings together educators, students and public stakeholders for dialogue and collaboration around issues and topics that impact classroom learning and school communities.

They will be posting questions to guide the discussion.

You don't need a Twitter account to participate! Go to the Twitter search page for the #michED hashtag and you can read through the tweets and updates whenever you like. But if you want to participate, share, and connect--you do need a Twitter account.

The State Board of Education (SBE) is also offering a chance for you to provide input through an online form, via a Facebook page or via email. The input will be used in the development of a candidate profile and a job description for the superintendent position.
