New education group launches website to promote the value of Michigan’s public schools

The Michigan Public Schools Partnership launched a new website this week to promote the value of public education in Michigan.

The site,, promotes public education through news, information and resources that school districts and communities can use to explore education-related topics and learn about great things happening in Michigan’s public schools.

MPSP is a coalition of 21 Michigan education groups and school districts committed to the principle that community public schools are a key component of our democracy, ensuring all students have access to a quality education and a brighter future.

“So many good things are happening in our public schools, but that message is getting lost in the mainstream media, often overshadowed by negative headline news stories,” said Christine Beardsley, superintendent of the Eaton Regional Education Service Agency and MPSP’s co-chair. “We hope to improve the image of public schools in Michigan by sharing positive stories and information and ‘standing strong for public schools.’”

The new site will serve as a clearinghouse for positive stories about the great things happening every day in Michigan’s public schools. It features an interactive map that allows visitors to click on a region and see articles submitted by school employees, parents, students and community members.
