Order grocery gift cards online to help displaced school employees in Ypsilanti and Willow Run
MEA members are being asked to help colleagues in need who are struggling to feed their families after they lost their jobs through no fault of their own.
The Ypsilanti and Willow Run school districts merged on July 1, and about 200 teachers and education support professionals were laid off as a result.
The Washtenaw County MEA office has launched a virtual food drive for those displaced school employees, so they can continue putting food on their families’ tables. In lieu of donating food and goods, those interested in helping can go online and purchase Kroger gift cards, which will then be sent to the Washtenaw MEA office and distributed directly to those in need.
Here’s how to do it:
- Go to http://customer.kroger.com/giftcard/PurchaseNewCards.aspx
- Add to your cart gift cards in $10, $15, $20 or $25 increments. (Please don’t put more than $25 on any one card.)
- Have the card(s) shipped to Kimberly Wolcott, MEA, 2805 S. Industrial Highway, Suites 400 & 500, Ann Arbor, MI 48104
