Draft science standards released for public input
Partners in developing the Next Generation Science Standards recently released a new draft of proposed K-12 science standards and are accepting feedback until Jan. 29.
Michigan's Math and Science Center Network and the Michigan Science Teachers Association have been actively involved in developing the draft standards, which are available for review at www.nextgenscience.org.
The Michigan Department of Education describes the development of the new standards as a "collaborative, state-led initiative" that involves "educators, state science officials, scientists, engineers, business leaders and university faculty members."
The standards are expected to be finalized in March.
