"Layered Earth I," a collage mix entry by Terry Junger of Perry
"Layered Earth I," a collage mix entry by Terry Junger of Perry won "Best in Show" at the 48th Annual MEA/MAEA Exhibit this past weekend. Junger’s work was chosen by juror Dr. Kim Huyler-Defibaugh from 99 entries.
"I appreciated the creative use of materials and techniques. Each time I looked at the piece, I saw something new. The piece presents an interesting exploration of mediums and textures," said Huyler-Defibaugh.
In addition to "Best in Show," Defibaugh also chose six entries for a "Juror’s Choice" award.
Defibaugh is the supervisor of Visual and Performing Arts for the Toms River Regional School district, the fourth largest district in New Jersey. An artist herself, Defibaugh specializes in repurposing materials into her art.
The exhibit runs until April 25 at MEA Headquarters in East Lansing. Artwork will also be displayed on the MEA website later this week.
