Food allergies in schools and classrooms are serious issues for school personnel and healthcare professionals. It’s important to keep updated and you have an opportunity to earn credit for learning more this summer.
On August 9, the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Michigan Conference will feature experts on topics such as the school management of food allergies and research updates for school employees. Teachers can earn four SCECHs by attending. The Conference will be held at the Kresge Hall Auditorium, Room 1316, on the Main Campus of Madonna University from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Online registration is highly recommended.

Corwin Publishing and Learning Forward Michigan are sponsoring a Cultural Proficiency Institute on August 7-8 at the Washtenaw ISD Teaching and Learning Center in Ann Arbor. The Institute is designed to bring educators and other professionals together to discuss critical issues of diversity, equity and opportunity.
Working in small and large groups, participants will explore topics such as the essential elements of cultural proficiency, barriers to achieving cultural proficiency and data analysis.
Registration is $399 per person, but if you register by May 31, you can save $50 on the fee. A group discount is available for three or more participants at $349 each. Registration fees include materials, handouts and lunch.
