MEA launches new campaign to hold lawmakers accountable for school funding cuts
MEA launched a new video and website Thursday urging citizens to hold Republican legislators accountable for cutting education to pay for a $1.8 billion tax break to corporate special interests.
Go to www.KidsNotCEOs.com to view the video, share stories on how the Republicans’ massive education cuts are affecting students and communities, and take action to help prevent future cuts.
“Parents, teachers and other citizens throughout Michigan are rightfully up
set at Republicans in Lansing for slashing $1 billion from schools, just to pay for a $1.8 billion tax break to corporate special interests like big banks and oil companies,” MEA President Steven Cook said in a news release . "Instead of working to give our kids the education and skills they need to compete for jobs, Republicans in Lansing continue to focus on settling political scores and treating teachers and school employees like punching bags. It’s time to hold these Lansing politicians accountable.”
