Latest AYP results posted on new state website

AYP results released this week are posted on the new education information website, MI School Data. While 93 percent of Michigan school districts made Adequate Yearly Progress this year under the No Child Left Behind law, 21 percent—or 717 schools—did not make AYP. That’s a 7 percent increase from last year’s scores.

Officials at the Michigan’s Department of Education (MDE) aren’t optimistic about next year’s scores with the state moving from a basic to career and college-ready curriculum and raising cut scores on statewide tests.

With the Legislature’s misguided attempts at education reform, these test scores will be impacting teacher evaluation and assignment more than ever before.
