Michigan educators win NEA Foundation grants for innovation

Six Michigan educators recently received a combined $12,000 in grants from the National Education Association Foundation to help support their innovative techniques for improving student achievement and encouraging professional development.

"Layered Earth I," a collage mix entry by Terry Junger of Perry won "Best in Show" at the 48th Annual MEA/MAEA Exhibit this past weekend. Junger’s work was chosen by juror Dr. Kim Huyler-Defibaugh from 99 entries.

Awards & Grants

Throughout the year, MEA gives out a variety of awards, including more than $175,000 in college scholarships to Michigan public school students since 1997 through the MEA Scholarship. Other awards honor MEA members for service to the association, public education and their students.
