Student Rebate Form (PDF) Did you know that when you get your first job, as a first year educator and member of MEA, you qualify for a rebate of your student membership dues from when you were in college? As a member of Student MEA you are also a member of NEA and you can receive $20 from NEA for every year you were part of the Student MEA Program (for up to 4 years). For example, if you were a student member for 2 years, you would receive $40 back in dues from the NEA! This must be for the first year you are teaching or working as a support staff member in a public school system in order to qualify for the rebate.
All you have to do is fill out the Student Rebate Form and fax or email the document to NEA (details on the form). DEADLINE IS: May 1, 2013.

SMEA President Gary Scott Speaks at Rally
To chants of “Thank you Gary, thank you Gary”, our own Student MEA chair Gary Scott addressed a crowd of over 3,000 people rallying to support public education at our State’s capitol. At the end of a day filled with visits with legislators, chanting and speeches Gary addressed the crowd. Gary started his speech saying, “I decided to go into teaching to change the world, even if it may be one child at a time.” Read more.
