Public invited to MEA’s Tuesday evening art exhibit and reception in East Lansing

EAST LANSING – The public is invited to the Michigan Education Association’s headquarters from 4:30-6 p.m. on Tuesday for an art exhibition and reception to celebrate the winners of the 62nd Michigan Education Association-Michigan Art Education Association Art Acquisitions Purchase Awards.

The art exhibition recognizes MEA-member artists working in schools across Michigan, with award categories including Best in Show, Honorable Mention, Juror’s Choice and Purchase Awards.

“We are proud of these amazing educators for sharing their inspiring artwork, and we’re excited to showcase these pieces at our public reception,” said MEA President & CEO Chandra Madafferi, a teacher from Oakland County. “No matter what role they play in our children’s education, MEA members are dedicated to unlocking our students’ full potential, helping them build both critical life skills and a love for the arts.”

The annual event welcomes original artwork submissions, including paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics, jewelry, metal work, enamels, mosaics, wood, fibers, stained glass, photographs, experimental media and sculptures crafted by MEA members.

The MEA Art Acquisitions Committee, a voluntary group of MEA members, works with a professional juror to organize the annual exhibition and highlight the creative talents of MEA members from every corner of the state.

The reception will be held Tuesday from 4:30-6 p.m. at MEA Headquarters, 1216 Kendale Blvd. in East Lansing. RSVP here.
