Vote NO on Proposal 1, Con-Con

The MEA Board of Directors has unanimously voted to oppose the calling of a new Constitutional Convention, or Con-Con, which will appear as Proposal 1 on the Nov. 3, 2026, ballot.

We strongly urge MEA members to vote NO on a Con-Con, which would open up Michigan’s Constitution to a total and complete rewrite and allow anti-public school advocates to privatize schools, open the floodgates for vouchers, and enact anti-union policies statewide. It would also allow wealthy special interests like the DeVos family to lock voters out of the process to advance their decades-long anti-public school agenda.

We must defeat the 2026 Con-Con proposal, which automatically goes on the ballot every 16 years. Get the facts at protectMIconstitution.com or download this flyer to share about how it could impact public education.
