MEA President statement of solidarity with Oakland University faculty seeking a fair contract

EAST LANSING — The following statement can be attributed to MEA President Paula Herbart regarding the ongoing efforts by Oakland University’s faculty union to settle a fair contract:
 
“From Pre-K through Higher Education, nothing is more important to student success than having quality educators. To attract and retain exceptional people in our profession, educators deserve respect and compensation requisite of their professional training and experience. 
 
“The faculty at Oakland University is standing together to get that respect and compensation through negotiations.  MEA stands in solidarity with their efforts to settle a fair contract that provides security and support for these dedicated educators.”
