Free Virtual Event on Human Trafficking is SCECH-Eligible

Human trafficking has victimized more than 8,000 people in Michigan over the last decade alone.  In our effort to continue to provide valuable professional development for MEA members, we will be screening “Ring of Silence,” a dramatic film about an epidemic that many may not know impacts students throughout all of our school districts.

This virtual event will include a screening, along with a panel of experts for a discussion and Q & A following the movie. The screening will begin at 6 p.m. and the discussion will begin immediately following (about 7:30pm). This event is SCECH-eligible.

“Ring of Silence” is rated PG-13. It was created to tell the stories of countless victims that have been trapped, bought and sold into the underground world of human sex trafficking. The film’s director, Michigan native Nicole Bowers Wallace, calls it “the film everyone needs to see.”

Register for the Ring of Silence movie and discussion Wednesday, May 19, from 6-8:30 p.m.
