MEA thankful for reintroduction of health care bill by Democratic legislators

The following statement can be attributed to Michigan Education Association President and CEO Chandra Madafferi, a teacher from Oakland County, in response to the legislative Democrats reintroducing previously passed legislation addressing rising public employee health care costs:

“We are thankful that Michigan’s Democratic legislators have reintroduced a bill to rein in skyrocketing health care costs for hardworking school employees. While we remain deeply disappointed about the recent veto of similar legislation, we will not be deterred.

“We are committed to working with our legislative allies to finally bring much-needed financial relief to educators, so our local schools can attract and retain the high-quality professionals that students need to succeed.”
