NEA highlights DeVos failures during pandemic; NEA member Jill Biden hears educator concerns

Students, parents, and educators are grappling with a global crisis, trying to stay safe, facing a new virtual reality and struggling to connect. Now more than ever, school communities across the nation need support and leadership. Instead, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is using this pandemic to, once again, push her failed privatization agenda to defund public schools – check out NEA’s list of “7 ways DeVos has failed students and educators during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The struggle educators face regarding decisions made by non-educators like DeVos without input from the frontlines isn’t new to veteran educator and long-time NEA member, Dr. Jill Biden.  The wife of presidential candidate Joe Biden worked with NEA to host a teletownhall to hear directly from school employees about the challenges they are facing supporting students.  Read more about the conversation.
