Statement supporting short-term extension of Stay Home, Stay Safe order

EAST LANSING – The following can be attributed to MEA President Paula Herbart regarding today’s announcement by Gov. Whitmer of the short-term extension of the Stay Home, Stay Safe order through May 15:

“By listening to public health experts first in making the tough decisions needed to slow the spread of COVID-19, Gov. Whitmer is prioritizing the health and safety of all Michigan citizens.  Students and educators understand first-hand the sacrifices needed, having lost the remainder of this school year’s in-person time together.  But together, we can make it through these tough times and do what’s needed to save lives, defeat this virus, and safely reopen our state.”
