Webinar on School Drinking Water Safety

A recording is now available of a webinar held on Friday, Feb. 12, discussing important state guidance on how to restore drinking water safely in school buildings that are reopening.

The webinar was offered to educators by the Whitmer administration, including the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and the Department of Health and Human Services.

Restoring and maintaining water quality after extended shutdowns and transitional periods of lower numbers in schools are critical steps for protecting educators and students from exposure to potential waterborne health risks such as microbial contamination, lead, and disinfection byproducts. The guidance can be found on EGLE and MDE’s websites.

You can watch the webinar or download the PowerPoint presentations shared on “Restoring Drinking Water Quality in Schools” and “Legionella Considerations for School Reopening.
